The Box Gallery
I am in the process of opening an art gallery to house the boxes which I own. I plan on selling and displaying the boxes in this gallery which will open this fall or early next year. It has been somewhat difficult due to a lack of funds but I am making progress. I hope people will come, enjoy and maybe even buy some of the boxes I have to offer. After all the gallery is for everyone to enjoy!

Church bazaar
Sorry I have been away so long but I had a death in my family last week (my brother) and was not able to write in this blog. But while I was away I was able to purchase three new boxes while I out of town. Very soon I will be posting pictures of some of the other boxes I have. In the meanwhile I will be selling boxes at a church bazaar in West Philly this Saturday. I do not know the name of the church but it is located on 60th and Walnut. The bazaar will happen rain or shine so if you would like to see or buy some decorative boxes come on by!

Boxes in the background
The boxes that you see in the template background are from my collection of boxes that I have gathered down through the years form various sources. One of my favorites is the Egyptian-style box of Taw-waret, the Egyptian goddess of childbirth. She has the head of a hippopotamus. Another is the oval yellow porcelain box with plants from a meadow decorating the top and sides. All these boxes are basically containers but whatever a person wishes to contain in them is up to the owner.

Couch too Big!
Friday I was to receive a new couch for my gallery that I am trying to start in my home. The couch did arrive on schudule and it was very nice but unforntunately is was too big to fit through the entrance. This I suppose is only a minor set back. I guess I will use a bench instead or perhaps no seating. I really did want to get the couch but I suppose it wasn't meant be.

New Couch
Today I received a phone call saying that a couch I had ordered back in June will be arriving Friday. This is good news since I plan to install the couch in my gallery. I think that it will look pretty nice in the gallery and will allow people to sit as well as stand. Even though progress is slow in the completion of my gallery things are going along nicely.

Beginnings
Hi! This is a new blog about art, in particular sculpture. Many people do not think of boxes as art or sculpture but this blog will give you a new way of seeing these objects as more than just useful items or crafts. We will journey through time and see the development of boxes, trunks and chest from the past to present. If you have any boxes you wish to share with me please do so and join me as we travel through the world of art through boxes, trunks and chests.
